Parents
Parent awareness
Note: Most parents feel confused and overwhelmed when told that their child is not learning or developing in a typical way. Even as they cope with this new information, parents are expected to learn a whole new language (“IEP-ese”) and a whole new approach to school (“special education”). Many people offer advice, often conflicting. The sheer amount of new information can be baffling.
